The Return of the KING, custom .50 BMG bolt Action Rifle

This maybe the most unusual projects I have ever worked on. One of 6 rifles built by a long passed gun smith, it maybe the last one in existence. Built off of a barrel from a gun emplacement on a battle ship, the weapon was constructed out of inconel. Over the years, other so called Gun smiths had messed with it unfortunately and there was a lot of work that needed to be done. The original stock was needing to be refinished, the thumb hole stock was made for someone with very small hands and the recoil pad was not fit properly. I dropped the grip position by a 1/4 of an inch and changed the grip angle down by 5° for a much more comfortable position. Resanding the entire stock to 2,000 grit aluminum oxide for the tung oil finish, and angling the front of the stock on an 8° angle to help hide the warping of the highly figured maple stock. The bolt needed to be cleaned up, over the decades use had made it very sticky with a few burs that needed to be polished out. A 30 MOA custom rail was machined to lock into the receiver and take the recoil from the 6 screws that now attach the optic rail. The custom trigger had to be reshaped, hardened, and then bushings had to be made for spacers. Thorough cleaning, then Cerakote for protection on all the parts except for the barrel and action. With the new scope mount, a QD and adjustable cheek riser had to be made and installed into a very custom stock. The cheek riser itself was made from Honduras mahogany and also finished with tung oil. Over all, it is a striking piece not only to shoot but just to see in person!
