Cerakote Spray Gun Tips
It’s important to set your air pressure, or PSI, at the correct setting for the proper application of Cerakote. We recommend you use the following settings based on the series of coating you are spraying:| Cerakote Series | Pressure Setting (psi) |
|---|---|
| H-Series & Gen II NIR | 20-25 psi |
| Elite Series | 25-30 psi |
| C-Series | 30 psi |
| F-Series | 20-25 psi |
| V-Series | 25-30 psi |
| MC-Series & H-Series Clears | 30 psi |
| P-Series | 30 psi |
| LR-100/ULRB | 20-30 psi |
Pro Tips for Adjusting Air Pressure
Metallics
Due to higher concentrations of metallic flake, these coatings may be more prone to dry spray. Slightly reducing PSI will aid in reducing this issue.Low Viscosity
Thinner coatings can be susceptible to picture edging or excessive orange peel. Increasing air pressure will help atomize the coating into a finer droplet to aid in avoiding picture edging and or orange peel.High Viscosity
High viscosity coatings may also be prone to dry spray due to decrease in flow. Decreasing incoming air pressure up to 5 psi will allow the coating to be applied via a droplet spray keeping the coating wet longer and reducing the potential for dry spray.Article Published: August 20, 2025
