Maverick Gunworks is a full-service gunsmithing shop dedicated to providing professional firearm customization, repair, and refinishing services.
Founded in 2016 by Ricky Barbour, Maverick Gunworks expanded its team in 2024 with the addition of Chris Kistner. Both Ricky and Chris are Certified Gunsmiths through Piedmont Community College, bringing a combination of extensive mechanical experience, technical training, and hands-on firearms expertise to every project.

Chris Kistner brings extensive experience in Cerakote application and production, having worked professionally with Cerakote since 2019. For two years, Chris also served as a certified trainer, instructing aspiring applicators in proper application techniques and helping ensure work met established Cerakote standards. His experience includes a wide variety of firearm platforms, finishes, and patterns, allowing Maverick Gunworks to take on both straightforward refinishing projects and highly detailed custom work.

Ricky Barbour brings more than 30 years of experience as a millwright, along with a lifelong background in motorsports and race-car fabrication. His expertise in machining, fabrication, welding, mechanics, and precision mechanical work has translated naturally into gunsmithing and firearm customization.

At Maverick Gunworks, we combine professional gunsmithing, machining, fabrication, and Cerakote experience to deliver carefully executed work tailored to each customer's project.
