Shay Butler Knives, LLC was unintentionally founded in 2015 after Shay, a lifelong hunter, returned from an elk hunting trip in Montana. He made one near fatal error chasing after a mule deer without a skinning knife. After returning back home, he began searching out custom handmade knives, but decided it would be much more fun to teach himself to make his own. To this day, we repeat the quote "I only wanted to make one knife" quite often as Shay is still knife-less but Shay Butler Knives (SBK) has taken off!

Over the years, we have worked tirelessly to bring all aspects of our production process in house to rely on our own creativity and work ethic to succeed. The SBK Cerakote operation has grown and expanded past just coating our own blades. We partner with other manufacturing companies in the outdoor community to help assist in applications to help their business expand with high quality materials that will hold up in extreme environments.
